Pulsed Electromagnetic Field

What is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field?

PEMF, or Pulsed Electro Magnetic Frequency Therapy, is a fast and effective reparative technique that boosts cellular metabolism penetrating 70+ trillion cells throughout your body. It helps restore healthy cellular function, and leads to improved energy and capacity for healing. Whether you are recovering from injury or have stressed your body with participation in a strenuous sport, PEMF can help you get back to normal, or even better-than-normal.

PEMF expert Dr. Gary Ryan, known as “The Energy Doctor,” explains, “Based on a lot of research that was done at Yale, it is apparent that just about any pathology in the body is preceded by a drop in cell charge. Now we have technology that will reach down to the level of a cell that has lost charge and, due to the high intensity of the pulse, bring that pulse back to normal or a more normal situation, which allows it to replicate and produce a more normal cell.”

So, introducing a low-level electromagnetic field into the body can bring those charges back up and restore healthy electrochemical exchanges.

PEMFs stimulate every level of the body. You apply mats, pads, rings or paddles externally, and the electromagnetic pulses of energy penetrate the body at the cellular level. Your body then uses that energy to heal itself through its natural healing mechanisms. Depending on the extent of the issue, PEMFs can address a slight imbalance quickly, like a pulled muscle, or it can work to bring about a more substantial change over time, like restoring a sluggish organ system, damaged, inflamed tissues, regulate heart rate variability and more. Over 2,000 studies have proven the cellular & biological & physiological benefits and effects of PEMF for many conditions.

The PEMF system can be used in conjunction with our other practitioners and therapist’s modalities and is covered under extended insurance benefits as part of their regulated treatment or used as a stand alone session.

What Is A PEMF Session Like?

A PEMF session will essentially feel relaxing. All that is required is for you to lie down on a massage table that has a PEMF system on it. Clothes are kept on and no action or physical activity is required. Most people simply go to a restful, meditative state or simply fall asleep. Afterward, they arise from their PEMF experience feeling rested, peaceful and energized.

In addition to the full-body mat, there is a powerful smaller pad or a probe for application to specific affected areas. As such, PEMF therapy is offered in either a half hour whole body session, or as a foll-up 15 minute specific session.

FAQS

PEMF therapy works by using very low electromagnetic fields to recharge the individual cells in our body. Cells in our body have an electrical potential known as resting membrane potential (RMP), which determines their vitality. When cells are injured, diseased, or affected by trauma, their electrical charge decreases.

PEMF therapy helps to replenish the lost charge in these cells. The electromagnetic field generated by the PEMF device transfers electric charge to the cells, a process called cellular biostimulation. This action stimulates and “awakens” the cells, activating our body’s self-healing process.

In summary, PEMF therapy energizes and reactivates cells by restoring their electrical charge. This can be beneficial for various conditions and injuries, promoting the body’s natural healing abilities.

The effectiveness of PEMF therapy for pain relief is primarily due to the pulsation of the electromagnetic field generated by the device. This pulsation stimulates the cells by providing a sequence of electromagnetic fields, which in turn energizes the cells by charging them electrically.

The magnetic fields produced by PEMF therapy induce biological changes in the membranes, cells, and blood vessels, leading to various therapeutic effects. These effects include improved microcirculation/blood flow, reducing inflammation, decreasing swelling (edema), and promoting tissue & wound healing and bone repair for both fractures and osteoporosis.

PEMF therapy also helps relax muscles. When the smooth fibers in the muscles relax, it produces a vasodilating effect, meaning blood vessels widen. This helps increase blood flow to the affected area. Additionally, the release of endorphins during PEMF therapy helps increase the pain threshold, making the person more tolerant to pain. Moreover, the slight increase in blood flow (hyperemia) caused by the therapy has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Health Canada has approved PEMF also known as cellular biostimulation for pain and inflammation. PEMF therapy rejuvenates cells by providing a healthy dose of electrical energy. It promotes bone regeneration, provides pain relief by relaxing muscles and improving circulation, and helps to decompress joints affected by tense muscles.

PEMF therapy aims to recharge cells by providing them with electrical energy. It produces various effects in the body, including:

  1. Bone Regeneration: PEMF therapy stimulates the cells responsible for regenerating bone tissue, called osteoblasts. This makes it beneficial for conditions related to bone tissue, like arthritis, osteoporosis, and delayed healing of fractures.
  2. Pain Relief: By relaxing muscle tissue, PEMF therapy reduces pressure on surrounding tissues. This leads to an increase in the pain threshold and improved circulation. It also helps to relieve inflammation by reducing pressure on blood vessels.
  3. Muscle Relaxation: PEMF therapy acts on muscle contractures and helps to relax muscle fibers. It also relieves pressure on joints affected by the tense muscles, providing relief from excessive strain.

PEMF therapy has been a well-established, safe and non-invasive therapy with universally recognised effectiveness for decades. Our PEMF technolofy is medical grade, FDA  & Health Canada approved. It is a very relaxing treatment as well.

Numerous documented clinical studies report the effectiveness of PEMF therapy in the treatment of various conditions. In particular on bone tissues but also for muscle-ligament problems.

Anyone from the very young to the elderly can use PEMF safely and without negative side effects. The only contraindications are for those individuals with pacemakers, insulin pumps, or other electrical implants, and pregnancy.

Bad EMFs (Electromagnetic Fields) can refer to electromagnetic radiation that may have potential harmful effects on human health such as microwaves, high voltage power lines, cellphones and wireless devices and networks, wi-fi routers, electric blankets and heating pads.

However there are also “good EMF’s” Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy is based around using extremely low electromagnetic fields and pulsing them. This combination of pulsing extremely low electromagnetic fields can stimulate cells magnetic fields and can actually reverse the damage caused by “bad EMFs”. It is one of the quickest remedies of  EMF damage in the body.

Living cells, both nerve and muscle, and generally all cells in the body, possess an electrical potential called resting membrane potential (RMP). It is calculated from the difference between the intra and extra cellular electric charge and oscillates, depending on the type of cell, between -55 and -90 mV.

If some of that charge gets disrupted a PEMF session can transfer a healthy charge at a cellular level to help the body recover.
