Osteopathy brings new insight and knowledge of how trauma, pressure and tension can build up and affect our ability to and feel perform well.
Donna is a Manual Osteopathic practitioner with over 20 years of clinical osteopathic experience. She graduated from the Canadian College of Osteopathy after 7 years of intense training and the successful completion of an internationally accredited thesis on the Concept of the Fulcrum.
THE HOW: The science of osteopathy is focused on listening to the health of a person’s body. Practitioners look at and feel how different forces in the body are interacting and then apply a system of manual therapy to release any abnormal tensions causing pain and problems. Each personalized session demands that we have skilled hands and optimal listening skills to identify and restore the sophisticated rhythms and structures in the body and where it is out of harmony. My passion is finding the root of dysfunction by looking at the body as a whole, rather than being fixated on the symptom.
THE AHA: My interest in allopathic medicine initially drew me to a career in Medical Laboratory Technology. While working in a hospital setting as a biochemist and immunologist I developed a passionate interest in the body’s healing mechanism. After years of medical research, my interests expanded to include a more holistic approach. Further studies in Medical Intuition and Vibrational Energy Medicine contributed to my unique perspective on the science and subtleties of healing. My deep appreciation for both allopathic & holistic medicine led me to the study Manual Osteopathy, a treatment modality that perfectly marries the two disciplines. This method of treatment completely intrigued and resonated with me – it encompasses how force, fluidity and electromagnetic frequency affect the health and function of the body. Just as when one-note, key or instrument is out of tune or synch, the whole symphony and experience are affected,
A healthy force and frequency applied to the body strengthens us, invigorates us, it creates momentum and agility, whereas an unhealthy or compensating force overloads and overwhelms our anatomy and physiology. With any excess or insufficient force, we become less effective and efficient at self-correcting and healing. Over time, with wear and tear, injury, overuse and mental, emotional, physical and environmental stresses, the body begins to lose its ability to absorb shock. It does not bounce back as it should. We start coping not thriving,
These “lesions” or stuck, sluggish areas left untreated can take their toll on our lives – we get stiff, sore, exhausted, and sick. When this happens, it can cause us to feel burdened and the obstacles of life can feel insurmountable It is essential that we move to stay healthy. We are designed to move pain-free and with agility, naturally flexible and resilient, and feel strong and energetic.
MY CLIENTS: Osteopathy is for anyone and I enjoy the versatility and uniqueness every person brings. Everyone is intriguing, inspiring, and fun to work with.
My specialties are:
- Working with children and infants. I have taken advanced courses in pediatrics to deal with any troubles that have shown up from the birthing process, prenatal stresses, sleeping positions, and numerous other factors that affect your little one’s natural alignment and well-being that may be causing digestive upsets, excessive crying, difficulties feeding, development concerns and growing pains.
- For all you women and moms too, I have extensive training in women’s health dysfunctions to help the body cope with the physical, emotional demands of pregnancy, labour and delivery, menses, PMS, menopause and pelvic floor “issues”
- Sports injuries, acute and chronic pain, accidents come on in. Working with musculoskeletal problems is one of my strengths Let’s explore what’s causing yours
- Last, but not least, I bring a unique focus to visceral aka organ and the brain-body connection and communication with an electrotherapeutic modality that helps in both assessing and assisting me in balancing and optimizing it at a cellular level with a specific microcurrent that is targeted to its perfect frequency and clients say its a wonderful experience. For example, science has proven the lung works best at 72Hz, the kidney at 452 Hz and the colon at 640 Hz. I love to explain the anatomy and physics of it all too, so you understand what underlying problems are causing your body’s symptoms and pains. It is so unfortunate when these problems affect so many people in so many ways at every age and stage and they don’t have a solution. This is where I enjoy helping people to rediscover your body again, at it’s best.
Let’s get started.
